Dear Baguio Visitors,
Here are a few reminders bago kayo mag turista-mode on…
Wag kang pasaway please!
3. From Manang Ukay: If you say “Ay mas mura sa Greenhills?!” Signature ‘to teh, not replica!”
4. From Manong cab driver: “Walang mega-taxi dito!
We observe road courtesy; yield pag may time smile all the time! Bakasyon pinunta mo dito.
7. Learn the Art of Pagbabasura: ibulsa mo candy wrappers and receipts, yung mga take out basura mo hawakan mo gang makakita ka ng basurahan. At lalong bawal ang magtapon ng basura from a moving vehicle! Hindi po basurahan ang Baguio.
8. Siyudad kami hindi lalawigan! Stop talking to us in a very slow pace na parang hindi ka namin naiintindihan! Nakakairita sobra! We don’t nosebleed sa English teh – you laway with English! Wag kang OA!
Nakaka-Offend! Kalimutan na ang #s1-9 wag lang ang #10!
The bottomline dear visitors; respect! We try our best to keep our city clean and green… sana kayo din. The city is friendly and laid back and you’re here to experience our culture – not us wanting to experience yours. We want you to have a great Baguio time and to discover the city beyond the post cards that you see. Before doing anything out of habit, try asking if it’s acceptable- we’re here to accommodate visitors but not your rudeness.
I agree for all you have said. And before we asked the visitors to respect our city and as a Baguio resident we should start to love and respect our city first,to be a role model and let them see how we love and respect our city. I just came from the city for a quick vacation and i was standing near the traffic lights..some people just pass the pedestrian lane without looking if it is time for them to cross, actually it is red and green for the cars side and just because no cars are crossing at that time,he thought it will be safe but came a raging taxi cab and loudly beeping his horns and the poor person just got a shocked and loudly cursed the driver. So how can you teach other people if they can see wrongdoings from us..the citizens of Baguio?this is not the first,I always see in session road near the PNB crossings. thank you and more power to Baguio City.

Haha. Hndi po ganun mga taga baguio.
To the Author: kudos!

Hi, Ef. No need to be overly touchy. If the blog pulled a string where it shouldn’t e hindi po problema ng author yun. Problema mo yun kasi pati pamilya mo dinamay mo. Between you and the author, you are the problem we want to solve if you know that I mean. Maepal ka. Wag ganon.

You claim to be from benguet? I suppose you’re not!!!!That’s not our values. You have to read and understand the message of the author and not interprete it literally. Benguet people has wide thinking and understanding. Besides, don’t be confident in saying that Baguio is nothing without tourist. You might not know and I will tell you that Baguio had long been known for its universities and colleges as education haven in the north. It is the center of economy and trade in the highland and so be it that tourist come and go but it doesn’t mean Baguio survives due to this tourist influx. Widen your horizon before putting your comment. Long live Baguio-benguet and CAR!

to ef, it’s too one-sided to say na dahil sa mga turista kaya umunlad ang Baguio, madami pa pong ibang pinagkakakitaan ang Baguio aside from tourism. have u ever heard of PEZA? or TI? or the numerous call center in Baguio? and the very many colleges and universities within the city? yes tourism does bring in a lot of income but also a lot of RUBBISH, including people.
we, the Igorots, do not claim the highlands as our own, but this is how we value and respect our heritage. how about u?
to the author good job, I support u 100%! I grew up in Baguio and is now currently working in the lowlands but I go home as often I could, and when I do, I visit the places in the city that are tourist-free!

Di naman namin kailangan ang mga turista. The world doesn’t stop spinning for them. We’ll still have vegetables. We have our own produce. We have our trees. Our culture. Our love for our city. We can absolutely live without tourists. Our ancestors have survived.
Kayo? Ano yung makikita sainyo? puro buildings. Kalat sa kalsada. Kaskasero. Mga tarantado.
Would I want to trade my city for any of those? Hell the fuck no.

We all have lessons to learn ^_^ I am from Baguio and I also love Baguio.
To the readers (regardless kung taga-Baguio or not):
Here’s a friendly reminder 🙂
✔ PRACTICE SELF-DISCIPLINE (especially when in Baguio). Thank you!
Respect people, respect Baguio.. 💕
*Self-discipline e.g.:
✔ Do not monopolize the walkway/hallway. Learn to give way or say “excuse me”;
✔ Keep your litter (this is not your house);
✔ Use the pedestrian crossing appropriately

hahaha This is sooooooooooo true, man. It’s so frustrating coz us locals don’t want to leave our houses, unless it’s of utmost importance talaga. Tapno haan makadagdaag sa traffic and congestion There was one time during Christmas season, we were stuck in traffic for 2 hours. Srsly?? 2 HOURS. We went to Military cut off to buy food, and we were headed home to pacdal. It shouldn’t have taken us that long. But the traffic has been so horrible lately, it’s unbearable already.
The worst part is, since we live in the Pacdal area, pag labas mo ng bahay, trafffic agad for both lanes. hahaha Why? kasi pinupuntahan ang ambuklao (arca’s), technohub, johnhay, mines view, wrightpark, botanical, teacher’s camp, haunted house, mansion, Sm, etc… Puro nasa vicinity namin.
Kaya ngayon, Locals dread Holidays, special occasions, and breaks. There were times I would pick the litters up while giving glares to the tourists leaving them there. I’m not saying that it applies to all of them.

What the author wrote are what most of us are complaining about… as i read the comments i can’t help mself to comment also..
Baguio is not for condilleran’s only. “Taga-baguio” does not necessarily mean you have a bloodline (or a clan) from the cordilleras; it means you are someone who love and care for baguio… baguio is a melting pot of people from different regions and country.. ( btw it was the americans who taught us how to wear modern clothings and we were comfortable with what clothing we were wearing before that… and also we all were wearing g strings and wrap arounds before colonization)
This article should also be pointed out to the people residing in the city… especially to the officials who are not doing their job properly. The reason why tourists don’t respect this land is because we allow them to this and as well we are showing that it is ok to do it…
If the law has been violated proper penalty/punishment should be given…
An addition to this may i ask the baguio officials not to make holidays a ” no number coding” days, this is one of the reasons why we have heavy traffic…
Respect…. Responsibility… this are the two words we should keep in mind every time we enter someone else’s domain..
